The Qualcomm Snapdragon 836 is reportedly a newer version of the Snapdragon 835.

Android Oreo is out and rumors suggest Google’s next flagship phones, the Pixel 2 and the Pixel 2 XL may be launched on October 5. The flagship phones are expected to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 836 SoC, which reportedly is an upgraded version of the current gen Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 platform, commonly in use by most flagship class Android phones. The new chip is supposed to be using the same Octa-core setup with Qualcomm’s proprietary Kryo 280 cores and slightly higher clock speeds.

The leaks comes from well known leakster Evan Blass who in the past has had a good track record in giving out reliable information about upcoming devices. While there hasn't been a solid leak about the upcoming Google phones, there are various rumors floating around. Previous reports suggest that this year the smaller Pixel 2 will be manufactured by HTC with the company’s squeeze functionality and the larger Pixel 2 XL will be made by LG, which will use its Full Vision display for the device. There have also been reports that Google might launch the phones in more colours this year, apart from the usual white, black and grey colours.

We have also seen reports and leaked renders in the past suggesting that the second generation Pixel phones might not have a headphone jack. However, if Google removes the headphone jack, it will be backtracking on the ad campaign the company put out last year defending the humble audio jack when Apple abandoned it.
