Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL shipments have been delayed by 4 - 5 weeks and some models won't be available until December.
Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL, the second generation Pixel smartphones are now official. The pre-orders for the device begun yesterday and the new phones are already appearing as out of stock on the Google Store.
Google Pixel 2, the smaller of the two models, will ship by October 17 but it won't be available in all three colour options. Some of the colour and storage variants of Pixel 2 will ship in five to six weeks and could be delayed further depending on demand. Google Pixel 2 XL, the premium model with nearly edge-to-edge display will ship in 2 to 3 weeks for those in the US. The availability will be limited to certain colour and memory option. The waiting period is said to be around six weeks in Europe and some configurations are only expected to ship in December. Most of the configurations are listed as out of stock with an option to join the waitlist.
In the US, the shortest waiting period for second generation Pixel phones is four to five weeks. The Pixel 2 XL in Black and White colour is unavailable. With Pixel phones last year, Google delivered a compelling hardware but it failed to have enough quantities at its stores. This year, the situation seems to have not improved much.
To recall, Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL are follow-up to last year’s Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones. The Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL features a 5-inch Full HD and 6-inch Quad HD+ OLED displays and are powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 chipset. The smartphones come with 4GB RAM and option for either 64GB or 128GB internal storage. The Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL feature new 12MP rear camera with f/1.8 aperture, dual pixel autofocus and optical image stabilisation. It features an 8MP selfie camera and DxOMark has crowned it as the best smartphone camera. The selling point of the new Pixel phones is the camera and promised upgrade to latest Android for three years.
The Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL will go up for pre-orders in India starting October 26. The Pixel 2 will retail from November 1 at a starting price of Rs 61,000 while Pixel 2 XL will be available only from November 15 at a starting price of Rs 73,000.
