Google could be working on two new smartphones.
While one smartphone is understood to be the Pixel Fold, the other remains a mystery.
It could be the Pixel Ultra or the Pixel Mini.
Earlier this month, Google revealed the Pixel 7 and the Pixel 7 Pro, the company's flagships for 2022. With the new smartphones, Google also unveiled its first smartwatch, the redesigned Fitbit, also known as Pixel Watch. In addition, the company announced the Pixel Tablet, its first take mobile tablet devices, that will be available next year. However, the launch event did not mention anything about a third Pixel 7 device, right? As it turns out, a developer has dug deep into the source code of the latest Pixel smartphones and discovered references to two unreleased devices.
Developer digs references to unreleased smartphones in Pixel 7's source code
As per a report by Gizmochina, developer Kuba Wojciechowski has pulled out references to two unreleased devices from Pixel 7's source code. The devices are codenamed "Lynx" and "Felix." While "Felix" could be the codename for the possible Pixel Fold, a foldable smartphone like the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4, "Lynx" might refer to an unknown Pixel device. It is speculated that the unknown Pixel device could be the third smartphone in the Pixel 7 series, possibly a Mini or an Ultra version.

In a Twitter thread, Wojciechowski says that "Lynx" could be the alleged Pixel Ultra. In September, the developer referred to a device with the same codename, saying that it could come with a triple camera configuration on the rear, including Samsung GN1, Sony IMX787 and IMX 712 sensors and the IMX712 sensor on the front. The developer also shares images of the source coding, claiming that the Pixel Ultra could support wireless charging and use Qualcomm's WiFi 6E + Bluetooth combo chip.
It is definitely a lower end part than the S6E3HCx parts used on the Pixel Pro series. It appears that the chip is capped around 1080p @ 120Hz. This could potentially mean that Lynx is getting a lower resolution panel (perhaps it is the rumoured “mini” Pixel?).

Pixel Ultra or the Pixel Mini?
However, in another thread, Wojciechowski shares that the smartphone could feature the "s6e3fc3-l10" panel, which has also been used on the Pixel 6, Pixel 6a and Pixel 7. Since the display chip is capped at around 1080p at 120Hz, the smartphone could very well be a smaller version of the Pixel 7 series, as it would make no sense to release an 'Ultra' Pixel and equip it with an inferior display. This could be a little confusing for those unaware of how Google leaks information about its upcoming devices. To sum up, Google is either working on a Pixel Ultra or a Pixel Mini, along with the Pixel Fold that has been in the works for quite some time.
