A fresh rumour suggests that Google might be developing a third phone, larger than the next generation Pixel XL.

We know that Google is working on the successors to its Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones. We also know that the premium devices will launch sometime later this year, keeping with the current trend in smartphone refresh cycles. However, a new rumour suggests that the Mountain View based tech behemoth might have a third phone up its sleeve.

An unconfirmed report from Droid Life claims that Google is working on a smartphone larger than the 5.5-inch Pixel XL. The publication cites multiple sources and claims that the device in question is codenamed ‘taimen’, a Siberian fish known for its large size. In fact, the Taimen fish is one of the largest salmonids found in the world.

Previously, another unconfirmed report from Android Police suggested that the next generation Pixel, Pixel XL are codenamed Walleye and Muskie, also types of fish. The upcoming Pixel 2 smartphones are expected to sport a new design, with thinner bezels on top and bottom. Leaked renders of the devices show a glass back, instead of metal.

Further, reports suggest that the Pixel 2 will be waterproof and will have enhanced camera capabilities. Google is known to be testing the upcoming devices for better low-light photography. In addition, the Pixel 2 is reportedly being tested with improved chipsets from two different manufacturers.
