Android O's name has been a mystery for quite a while now. Oreo, Oatmeal cookie, Octopus or perhaps something else starting with an ‘O’, there have been various rumours regarding the official name for Google’s next OS release. Now, David Ruddock from Android Police has predicted in a series of Tweets that Android O’s name might be revealed by Google on the same day as the American solar eclipse ie on August 21.
Ruddock mentions Android O in a series of tweets and also says that Google has pushed the release of Android O from what the company had planned initially and that there is no new estimated release date that he's aware of.

He further added that according to an unverified source, Android O’s name release on August 21 will be a grand one and nothing random like "oh hey here's a statue."

Google had announced Android O during its annual developer conference, I/O 2017. It brings new features like Notification Dots, Picture-in-Picture mode, LDAC support, Autofill and Smart text selection. Google has also improved the security and reduced the booting time in the new OS. In addition, the update offers battery enhancement with background execution limits and other changes to vital system behaviors.
Even though the latest Android addition is packed with features, there is a high fragmentation rate between its various OS versions. Latest reports suggest that Android Nougat, which was announced last year, has less than 10 percent of the Android market share. In contrast, Apple recently cited that the latest version of iOS is running on more than 85% of Apple devices.
