Gionee is expected to announce its next smartphones, S9 and S9T on November 15. The Chinese smartphone maker teased the launch on its official Weibo account, and the teaser shows the dual rear cameras sitting atop the Gionee logo.
The Gionee S9 and S9T has passed the Chinese certification agency TENAA. The certification reveals most of the technical specifications of teh devie along with its images. Gionee S9 and S9 will follow the recent launches of Gionee S6, S6s and S6 Pro from the company.
As per TENAA listing, Gionee S9 features a 5.5-inch Full HD display and an octa-core processor from MediaTek. The smartphone comes with 4GB RAM and 64GB expandable storage. Gionee S9's main attraction here is the use of dual rear cameras, which have become a trend among Chinese smartphone OEMs these days.
Gionee S9 is tipped to sport a combination of 13MP + 5MP cameras. There is also a 13MP front shooter for selfies. The S9 is also expected to feature a 3000mAh battery and run Android Marshmallow.
At MWC in February this year, Gionee announced plans to revamp its smartphone portfolio with new devices that offer compact design and competitive specifications. The company has updated its offerings significantly since then and has even managed to bring in some market share.
With Gionee S9, the company is following just another trend of dual-rear cameras, which was earlier done by Huawei, Honor and Xiaomi. Apple has also joined the league with iPhone 7 Plus, and it will be interesting to watch if Gionee brings any new software enhancements to the table.
