Gionee has unveiled its new flagship device, the S8, at MWC. The phone features a 5.5-inch Full HD AMOLED display, and is 74.9mm wide. Like the Apple iPhone 6s and 6s Plus, the display of the S8 is capable of recognising three different levels of touch. The device also features an all-metal body, which the company called a loop metal design wherein the antenna goes around the phone. The Gionee S8 is powered by a MediaTek Helio P10 octa-core processor and 4GB of RAM. At the back is a 16MP camera with an f/1.8 aperture lens, phase detection autofocus, laser-assisted autofocus and LED flash. There is an 8MP front-facing camera as well. The device is equipped with a 3000mAh battery and 64GB of inbuilt storage.
The Gionee S8 runs Android Marshmallow v6.0 with the company's Amigo 3.2 OS layered over it. It also supports 4G connectivity, dual-SIM functionality, and has a fingerprint sensor located within the home button. The S8 also comes with "dual WhatsApp" that allows users to have two accounts on the phone. The device is priced at EUR 449 (approx. Rs. 32,000), and will go on sale by March 2016 in Rose Gold, Silver, and Gold colours.
