Gionee may launch selfie-centric S6s smartphone on August 22

While details of the device are not yet known, Gionee has hinted that the phone will feature a front facing flash

Gionee has posted a teaser for its upcoming selfie-centric smartphone on social media called the Gionee S6s. The company has teased the device’s front flash, but not much else about the device is known for now. The company is hosting an event in India on August 22, and it is possible that the company will launch the device that day.

When launched, the Gionee S6s will join the other recently launched selfie-centric devices like the Oppo F1s and the Coolpad Mega 2.5D. While the Coolpad Mega offers an 8MP front camera, was launched at a price of Rs. 6,999, while the Oppo F1s sports a 16MP front camera and is priced at Rs. 17,990. 

To recalled, The company launched Gionee Elife S6 in India back in February this year and sported a metal body and was 6.9mm thick. Featuring a 5.5-inch HD display, the device was powered by a 1.3GHz MediaTek MT6753 SoC with 3GB of RAM. Further, the phone also offered a 13MP and 5MP cameras. However, Gionee did launch a an upgraded variant of the phone called the S6 Pro in China a couple of months back. The phone has the same screen size as the standard S6, but with a Full HD resolution. Further, the device also sported a Helio P10 SoC and 4GB of RAM.
