Gionee confirms E8 with 23.7MP camera, M5 with 6020mAh battery
Gionee is likely to officially announce the Elife E8 and Marathon M5 on June 10 at an event in Beijing.
Gionee has confirmed its much-hyped Elife E8 will sport 23.7MP rear camera, which will be capable of taking pictures in 100MP resolution (take multiple shots and combines them into a single image). The company also confirmed its Marathon M5 will come with a 6020 mAh battery, which will be able to run the phone for four days. Gionee is expected to reveal the two smartphones and make other major announcements at an event in Beijing on June 10.
Gionee's Elife E8 has been rumoured for a while. The upcoming smartphone gained attention for its camera capabilities. The 23.7MP rear camera is a huge bump for Gionee's Elife series. Gionee has previously stated it aims to make powerful phones with slim design in the near future. "We believe ELIFE S7 will bring the future of slim smartphones to the next level. To make ever-slimmer phones, compromising on performance and function is pointless. Manufacturers should offer more features benefiting user experience other than just slimness," had said William Lu, President of Gionee while launching the Elife S7. As far as 100MP pictures are concerned, we have seen a few smartphone brands attempting to boost the resolution quality. While Nokia tried with a PureView phone featuring 41-megapixel sensor, Oppo's Find 7 featured a 13MP primary camera that can also shoot 4K videos. The camera also has the ability to shoot a 50MP photo.
Gione hasn't revealed more about its upcoming smartphones. Rumours suggest the Gionee Elife E8 will feature 6-inch display, 2.0 GHz octa-core chipset with 3GB of RAM, 32 GB of built-in storage, an integrated fingerprint scanner for additional security and a powerful 3,520mAh battery. The Gionee Marathon M5 is expected to feature 5.5 inch 720p display, 2 GB RAM, 8 MP primary and 5 MP secondary cameras and quad-core 1.3 GHz processor. Gionee's Marathon M3 is already available in India.
While pricing and availability details of these phones are not known yet, but considering Gionee's extensive presence in the Indian market, we can expect the phones to launch in the country very soon.
