During its recently held Unpacked event, Samsung showed us that it has fully and wholeheartedly embraced the AI route. Its focus and emphasis on AI was spoken at length during the event. Galaxy AI was also unveiled at the event which is currently available on its most recent Samsung Galaxy S24 series. The AI features on these features are really cool. And now in a welcome move for Samsung users, the South Korea-based tech giant is expanding Galaxy AI to older devices as well.
The company will bring Galaxy AI to previous devices with a new OneUI 6.1 system update that will roll out by the end of March, as informed by the company.
TM Roh, President and Head of Mobile eXperience Business at Samsung Electronics said that Samsung aims to bring the Galaxy AI experience to over 100 million Galaxy users by the end of 2024. He said, “Our goal with Galaxy AI is not only to pioneer a new era of mobile AI but also to empower users by making AI more accessible.”

Users will now be able to use features such as Chat Assist, Live Translate for calls, Interpreter, and the gesture-driven “Circle to Search” feature which were earlier exclusively available for users owning the Samsung Galaxy S24 devices. In addition to this, users can also play around with features like Note Assist, Browser Assist, and Transcript Assist. The update will also bring forward AI-powered media editing tools such as Generative Edit, Edit Suggestion, and Instant Slow-mo for videos.
