Micromax subsidiary, YU Televentures, has revealed the launch of date of its upcoming flagship smartphone. The device will be called the Yunicorn, according to the invite, and will be launched on May 19. The invite states “Fantasy will soon become reality. Join us in the unveiling of the phone that will redefine flagships”. This may be the YU5530 smartphone, spotted on the Geekbench benchmark, recently.
Yu’s Rahul Sharma had earlier confirmed that its next smartphone will not run on Cyanogen, instead choosing the stock Android OS over it.
According to the Geekbench listing, the device will be running on a 1.8GHz MediaTek Helio P10 SoC, along with 4GB of RAM. The YU5530 scores 816 points on the single-core benchmark and 3059 on the multi-core benchmark. We also found the same device on GFXBench, with the same Helio P10 SoC and 4GB RAM. The GFXBench suggests that it’ll have a 5.4-inch display with 1920 x 1080p resolution and 32GB of internal storage.
Further, the specs on GFXBench point towards a 12MP rear camera that can record 4K video, and a 5MP front-facing camera.
Yu recently launched the Yu Yureka Note as well, which was a 6-inch version of the Yu Yureka. The device features a MT6753 SoC and 3GB of RAM. It has 16GB of storage, and a large 4000mAh battery to boot.
