Firmware update for Galaxy Note II brings Multi-Window functionality
Samsung has started rolling out a firmware update for its Galaxy Note II that brings the much- awaited alternate dimension to multi-tasking on the device. The feature, known as ‘Multi-Window’, unlocks the ability to run two apps simultaneously and sharing the same screen space. This was not a part of the original firmware, but seems to be making its way to the devices now.
This update also bumps up the Chrome browser to the latest version, bringing in performance and stability updates for the browser.
We had seen the split-screen feature in the Galaxy Note 800 tablet (read review here), albeit that version only worked with the preloaded Samsung apps. However, the update on the Note II will work with Samsung apps as well as Google Apps – Gmail, YouTube, Chrome and Talk. No other applications are supported at the moment, but expect that to change quickly with developers updating their apps to support this feature.
The update is now being rolled out globally, but do not worry if your Note II has not received the update yet. There are regional/operator delays, but do keep checking. Also, we would like to hear from you about whether you like this feature or not.
