Infinix is preparing to introduce a new smartphone in India that comes with a unique scent-tech, a built-in mechanism that allows the device to release a light fragrance from its rear panel. The technology will make its debut with the upcoming Infinix Note 50s 5G+, which will be part of the company’s Note series. This will be the first phone to have a technology like this and is expected to launch later this month. In an exclusive conversation with Times Now Tech and Digit, Infinix India CEO Anish Kapoor shared details about the new technology and also revealed the first look of the device in a Marine Drift Blue colour variant.
“We try to innovate. One such innovation is this Energizing Scent-Tech. It’s like you have a good-looking phone and it smells good as well. There is a lot of technology behind that,” Anish said, while confirming that the phone will launch in India April 18. The Infinix Note 50s will be available in three different colors but only the Marine variant in vegan leather finish will have this scent-tech.
When asked about the need to bring this form tech, Anish said that consumers don’t really know what they want until they see it. “All of us want to smell good. We want to be in the environment. If we have something that smells good in our hand then why not!” he added.
Even though Anish didn’t reveal the exact price of the phone, he suggested that the Note 50s 5G+ will cost less than Rs 20,000 in the Indian market. The final price will be revealed on the launch day.
What is Energizing Scent-Tech on Infinix Note 50s 5G+?
The Energizing Scent-Tech featured on the Infinix Note 50s 5G+ (Marine Drift Blue variant) uses the Microencapsulation Technology. It is a process that involves trapping fragrance molecules within microscopic capsules. These capsules are infused into the phone’s vegan leather back panel, allowing the device to gradually release a light, refreshing scent over time.
According to Infinix, the scent is designed to be long-lasting and subtle, though its intensity and duration may vary based on how the phone is used and the ambient climate conditions, such as temperature and humidity. The company claims that the fragrance should last for about 6 months.
As of now, this is a temporary experience and there is no way increase the fragrance life.
