Chinese smartphone manufacturer ZTE has announced that an improved version of the Axon 7 will now be available in the US at $499.98 (approx. Rs. 34,100) and will be sold in limited quantities exclusively through ZTE's website. The Axon 7 was first launched along in China in May 2016, now ZTE is launching a "limited edition" and "enhanced" version of the device.
The device is powered by a Snapdragon 820 processor with 6GB RAM and 128GB of internal storage. Encased in metal body the device sports a 5.5-inch 1440p Force Touch pressure-sensitive display along with a 20MP rear camera and 8MP front camera. All this is backed by a 3250mAh battery that has been carried forward from the older version. ZTE’s improvements mean that users will now have to pay an additional $100 over the normal Axon 7's price for the new device.
The original Axon 7 featured a 5.2-inch QHD AMOLED display. The device runs Android Marshmallow v6.0 with MiFavor4.0 UI layered over it and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 SoC clocked at 2.15GHz. The main camera is a 20MP camera shooter with phase detection autofocus, OIS, and a f/1.8 aperture lens, this is accompanied by a 8MP camera. The phone is equipped with a 3250mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0. The Standard variant was offered with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage, while the premium version offered 6GB of RAM and 128GB internal storage.
The Axon 7 body was designed by ZTE in collaboration with Designworks, a BMW subsidiary and was offered in two colours: Ion Gold and Quartz Grey. The new Axon 7 will be offered in Ion gold only.
