Prior to any confirmation on MediaTek Helio X20's launch, Elephone has listed a smartphone, P9000, on its website which it claims to run on the deca-core Helio X20 SoC. The device has been given an October 20, 2015 release date. If that does happen, the Elephone P9000 will become the first smartphone to run on the first ten-core processor for cellphones.

The MediaTek Helio X20 is a deca-core chipset, containing two 2.5 GHz Cortex A72 cores, four 2 GHz Cortex A53 cores, and four 1.4 GHz Cortex A53 cores. It was unveiled by MediaTek in May this year, and will be competing with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820 and Samsung’s Exynos 7 octa series flagship processors. As for the chipset's performance, leaks have been showing it to score more than 70,000 on an AnTuTu Benchmark test. MediaTek has also stated that it will perform 40% better than the current Helio X10 SoC.

The Elephone P9000's specifications on its website enlists a 5.5-inch FHD display with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage, which is expandable up to 128GB. The rear camera has a 20.7MP sensor, and the front has an 8MP one. It has a 3100mAh battery, and runs on Android Lollipop v5.1. It also supports FDD-LTE band for 4G, weighs 150 grams and is 8mm in thickness. Price is listed as $499.99 (approx. Rs. 33,234) on the website.

The device is also listed for pre-booking on a Chinese e-commerce portal, Geekbuying.com, for $329.99 (approx. Rs. 21,934). Most of the specifications are same, with the e-commerce listing the cameras having resolutions of 16MP and 13MP. There is no clarity whether this is a glitch, or Elephone intends to launch two variants of it.
