Did Samsung just unveil the Galaxy Note 5 release date?

HIGHLIGHTS

An internal investors call in Samsung, has led to speculations about the Samsung Galaxy Note 5's launch date.

Samsung may have unofficially confirmed the release date for its expected Galaxy Note 5 smartphone. According to reports, Samsung executive, Rhee In Jong, in an internal investor’s call, said that the company’s Samsung Pay payment system will debut in South Korea and United Stated along with Sammy’s next high-end mobile phone. How does this confirm the launch date? Because Jong also said that the payment system has been delayed from July to September.

This has led to speculations about the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note 5 to be launched in September. Of course, it makes sense, since the Galaxy S6 was launched just a month or so ago, and Samsung is due to update its premier flagship phablet device this year now. The Galaxy Note series has till now made its appearance at the IFA Berlin tech event, which is also scheduled for September 4-9 this year.

Further, the delay in Samsung’s payment system would give Google’s Android Pay a chance to acquire a portion of the market. With Apple having launched its Apple Pay system last year, the two giants — Google and Samsung — have to make up for lost ground. Samsung of course has an advantage in the fact that Samsung Pay will be preloaded on the company’s own smartphones, while Google has to get developers and OEMs to use its own.

That said, NFC payment systems aren’t quite widespread in many markets right now. Countries like India have almost no infrastructure for the same.
