Datawind has launched three new entry level Android smartphones in the market, the PocketSurfer 2G4, 3G4 and 3G5. With prices starting as low as Rs. 1,999 the Canadian company is targeting first time Android users and existing feature phone users.
DataWind has partnered with Reliance Communications, which will allow customers of the new PocketSurfer phones to use free unlimited internet access via its UbiSurfer browser for a year. This free access internet does not include audio/video streaming (Youtube) or local downloads. Customers will be able to use the restricted services by topping-up using plans available in the market.

All three smartphones feature the company’s own web delivery platform, which compresses and accelerates normal delivery of web content by factors of 10x to 30x. The company claims this translates into desktop like web experience even on GPRS/EDGE 2.5G mobile networks.
The phones will be available on Naaptol’s TV and online shopping platforms from March 17th, 2015. The devices will be available thereafter with Sangeetha mobiles, Spice HotSpot Retail and other retail partners from March 24th, 2015.
