Images of what is claimed to be the iPhone 5S have been leaked by a blog, leading to a flurry of rumours that Apple’s new handset may come out earlier than expected. Tech blog, Giz China has published photos taken inside a Foxconn factory and show the rumoured handset’s front and back panels.
If these photos are to be trusted, then the iPhone 5S will look exactly the same as the iPhone 5 but will, almost surely, sport better hardware and specs. The Giz China story further speculates that even though these photos are claimed to be the real deal, they could in fact be of a factory manufacturing iPhone knock-offs.
Another set of rumours started by a blogger on Sina Tech points to multiple variants of the iPhone queued for launch. The blogger claims that a friend working for an iPhone supplier has seen models of both the iPhone 5S and the iPhone 6. While the iPhone 5S is supposed to mirror the iPhone 5 in terms of design, the iPhone 6 is claimed to be thinner but wider, incorporating a 5-inch touch screen. Late last month, a French blog also leaked images of the speaker components of the rumoured iPhones.
The blog 9 to 5 Mac also contributed to the speculation by saying that instead of two expensive phones, Apple was working on an iPhone 5S with a 5-inch display and a cheaper iPhone with a plastic body and a 4.8-inch display. However, Senior VP of Marketing at Apple, Paul Schiller has dismissed rumours of a cheap iPhone saying, “Every product that Apple creates, we consider using only the best technology available. This includes the production pipeline, the Retina Display, the unibody design, to provide the best product to the market.”
Taking all these rumours into account, it seems to be a high possibility that Apple will showcase at least one iPhone during WWDC this summer.
