Computex 2011: Genius showcases Ring Mouse, Pen Mouse

Ring Mouse

One of the bigger stalls at Computex this time around was by an unlikely brand, Genius. While Genius is not so well known for high end products, they do come up with a few unique tidbits of technology every now and then. Take the case of these two products. Though the Ring Mouse was seen much before Computex 2011, it did manage to win some awards and recognition in Taipei. The product apparently won the IF product design award 2011.

The device features a Blackberry-like touch pad that is not very accurate, but helps you get by. Watch the video for a live demo.

The other interesting product was the Pen Mouse. It can essentially let you leverage a regular surface and use it to remotely control the cursor via the device. This one too won an award, namely, the Computex Taipei Design and Innovation Award.

The 1200 dpi optical sensor works fine enough and as you can see from the video, about an inch on movement of the Pen Mouse lets your cursor traverse the entire screen.
