Demo renders of the alleged Lumia “Saana” displays 6:50 on the clock, possibly indicating to a Lumia 650 branding

Following the launch of Lumia 950, 950XL and the Lumia 550, Microsoft is allegedly gearing up to launch its fourth Windows 10 smartphone. Renders of the device have been published by WinBeta. Codenamed “Saana”, it is expected to feature mid-range specifications.

If the time shown in the rendered image is anything to go by, the device might turn out to be the Lumia 650. Demo shots of previous Lumia phones showed the time corresponding to the model number. In the new render, it shows up as 6:50. According to sources cited by WMPoweruser, it is the global variant of the Lumia 650, RM-1152. According to AdDuplex CEO, Alan Mendelevich, there will be three other variants, RM-1150, RM-1154, and RM-1156. The Lumia 650 will reportedly feature a 5-inch 720p HD display. It might be powered by a Qualcomm MSM8909 Snapdragon 210 SoC. It is expected to feature a microSD card slot and a 2,000mAh battery.

Earlier, there were rumours of Microsoft working on a follow-up to the Lumia 830, which was codenamed 'Saana'. It was supposed to be the Lumia 850, with the Lumia 650 being codenamed Saimaa. The rumoured specs are somewhat similar to the Lumia 640 which lends credence to the idea that Saana might just be the Lumia 650. However, these are mere speculations and the actual specifications might vary. In the absence of further details, it cannot be confirmed at the moment.

Microsoft is targeting the lower end of the market with the Lumia 550. It features a 4.7-inch 720p HD display and is powered by a 1.1GHz quad-core Snapdragon 210 SoC. It has 1GB of system memory, 8GB of internal storage and a microSD card slot. There is a 5-megapixel primary camera with LED flash as well as a 2-megapixel front camera. It will be the least expensive phone to boot Windows 10 out-of-the-box. The Lumia 650 can be expected to pack in a bit more powerful hardware and will be positioned as a lower mid-range device. More details are expected to surface soon and the device may be possibly released in the first quarter of 2016.
