CMF Phone 1 blast leads to bike accident in Maharashtra, death of one

A shocking incident happened last night that resulted in the death of a 55-year-old school principal. Suresh Sangrame, a principal of a Zilla Parishad school, tragically died after his mobile phone exploded in his pocket while riding a motorcycle. The incident occurred near Sangadi in Sakoli taluka on the road to Arjuni Morgaon in Maharashtra.
Sangrame had a one-month-old CMF Phone 1 in his pocket which exploded while he was riding his bike with a 56-year-old Nathu Gaikwad. The two were headed to a family gathering when the phone exploded. Gaikwad fell off the bike and sustained a lot of injuries, he’s under treatment now.
Sangrame, who was driving, sustained severe burns from the explosion, which ignited a fire. Despite being rushed for medical treatment, he succumbed to his injuries.
Right now, the exact reason behind the phone’s explosion is not known but a report suggests the explosion was caused by an overheating mobile phone battery. Police are still trying to figure out the exact cause of the blast.
According to mobile phone experts, such phone blasts are pretty rare and are usually linked to battery malfunctions. Overcharging, using unauthorized chargers, or exposing phones to excessive heat can significantly increase the risk of battery failure.
How to prevent your phone from overheating
You should follow these steps to ensure that your phone doesn’t overheat:
- Charge responsibly and avoid charging phones overnight.
- Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight.
- Lastly, do not use damaged or second-hand batteries in your phone.
- Do not get your phone repaired from random shops and go to authorised stores whenever possible.
The phone that blasted was the CMF Phone 1. CMF, which is a Nothing sub-brand, is yet to release a statement in this regard.
