Google has created some buzz with the Google Pixel 8 series which was released last month in September and will soon make its way into the Indian market. The Pixel range had a lot to offer this time with two smartphones- Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro, Pixel Tab, and the Pixel Fold. Google has a variety to offer with the Pixel 8 series. But does Google have any other plans? Let’s find out.
As far as the Pixel 8 series is concerned, as I mentioned earlier, Google announced two smartphones in the series: Google Pixel 8 and Google Pixel 8 Pro. If we take a look at Google’s trend, then another early-mid option under the same series could be announced after some months. This is going to be Google Pixel 8a, just like Google released the Pixel 7a after a couple of months of the Pixel 7 series launch.

If rumours and leaks circulating on the internet are to be believed, then Google could indeed be working on the Pixel 8a. So, Google Pixel covers various price points. But is it going to enter the affordable smartphone segment? Well, we don’t think so.
Just recently, Nanda Ramachandran, Vice President of Mobile Business at Google, told Der Standard that Google will not enter the affordable smartphone segment and will not come up with a cheaper Pixel device. He mentioned how Google would have to make too many compromises on the devices if they wanted to bring a Pixel smartphone in the €200/$200 price range. He added that Google is very peculiar about the AI, camera, and a tight security framework on its Pixel devices which will have to be compromised to reduce the prices.

With the news coming straight from Google’s office, it is confirmed that Google has no plans to bring a low-cost smartphone to the market as of now.
