ChampOne C1 smartphone with fingerprint sensor, 2GB RAM, to sell at Rs. 501
It seems Rs. 501 is only for the first flash sale, with the real price at Rs. 7,999.
The newest in the series of cheaper than cheap smartphones from India is something called the ChampOne C1. However, while this phone is being offered at Rs. 501, its actual price is Rs. 7,999. The pricing is meant only for a flash sale that the company is hosting, which is open to its own customers. To become a customer, the company asks you to register for ChampOne Clean Master, which presumably is an app. For this, you'll have to pay Rs. 51, which will then generate a serial number that can be used for the flash sale.
Update: The company's website now says it's facing issues with its payments gateway partner, Avenues India, and hence registrations aren't possible for the next 24 hours. We called Avenues India and they confirmed that Champ One is indeed using their payment gateway. They weren't able to confirm whether servers were down, but they accepted that the same is possible. The "register now" button on the Champ One website is also broken for the moment.
According to specifications listed on the website, the ChampOne C1 is powered by 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek SoC, the MT6735. This is the same SoC, which is being use by the Coolpad Note 3 lite. The phone a 5-inch HD display, and will have 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage. It even sports an 8MP camera at the rear and a 5MP front facing camera. ChampOne Communications, the company selling the phone, has even included a fingerprint scanner and 4G compatibility.
The following message is displayed on the website: “We are facing technical issue with our payment gateway partner [Ccavenue (Avenues India Pvt. Ltd.)]. You would not be able to register for the application for next 24 hours. We sincerely regret for your inconvenience and would try to get it fixed as soon as possible. Thank you for your support..”
The first flash sale of the ChampOne C1 will take place on September 2, 2016 from 11:00 AM onwards.
