Asus kicked off its CES 2015 campaign with the announcement its latest smartphones — Zenfone 2 and Zenfone Zoom. While the Zenfone 2 succeeds the Zenfone 4, 5, 6 series, the Zenfone Zoom is a camera-centric device, which is being touted as 'world's thinnest 3X optical zoom smartphone'.
The Zenfone 2 brings new design featuring a curved case and slim edge. The smartphone has a 5.5-inch Full HD IPS display with 403ppi pixel density, 72% screen-to-body ratio and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. The display has a 3.3 mm bezel.
For performance, Asus has added 2.3 GHz 64-bit Intel Atom processor Z3580 and 4GB of RAM. The phone runs Android 5.0 Lollipop with an updated version of ASUS ZenUI software layer.
In the camera department, Zenfone 2 features a 13MP 'pixelmaster' camera with an f/2.0 aparture lens and a 5MP front-facing camera with f/2.0-aperture, wide-angle (85-degree) lens. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Wi-Fi Direct, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC. The smartphone is powered by a 3000mAh battery.
It's notable the 2GB RAM version of the Zenfone 2 is priced at $200. There's no word on the pricing of the 4GB RAM variant.

The Zenfone Zoom features 5.5-inch full HD display with 403ppi IPS display and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. The smartphone features 10-element lenses for 3X Optical Zoom. Asus says the Zenfone Zoom is world's slimmest 3X optical smartphone offering up to 12X zoom-in effect. The Zenfone Zoom comes supports 128GB of storage.
