The new trend in the market these days is launching a mini version of a flagship smartphone. While Samsung and HTC have tried their luck, Sony has finally done it right. The Xperia Z1 is a great smartphone with one of the most high-end hardware available today, and now we have the Xperia Z1 Compact, which has been officially announced by Sony at the Consumer Electronics Show.
Unlike other mini versions of flagship smartphones, the Xperia Z1 Compact does not disappoint, in fact it shares almost all of the great features that the Xperia Z1 has including the Snapdragon 800 CPU, 2GB of RAM, 16GB internal storage which can be further expanded, the 20.7MP camera with G lens and yes it is water-proof. The only downside of the Xperia Z1 Compact is that the display is now a 4.3 inch IPS panel with 720p resolution and the battery has been reduced to a 2300mAh unit, which we don’t think is a deal-breaker.
Check out the specifications:
• 4.3 inch Triluminous IPS display with 720p resolution
• Qualcomm Snapdragon 800; quad-core Krait 400 at 2.2GHz, Adreno 330 GPU, 2GB RAM
• Android 4.3 Jelly Bean (upgradable to 4.4 KitKat)
• 20.7 MP rear camera with G-Lens and LED flash, 2MP front-facing camera
• 16GB built-in, microSD card slot supporting up to 64GB
• NFC, A-GPS GLONASS, WLAN (2.4/5Ghz) a/b/g/n/ac, microUSB 2.0 (MHL), BlueTooth 4.0 LE
• 2,300 mAh battery
• To be available in Black, White, Pink, Yellow colour options
The smartphone will be available in Black, White, Pink and Yellow colour options. The price of the Sony Xperia Z1 Compact has not been confirmed but we expect the smartphone to be priced from anything between Rs.30, 000 to Rs. 40,000. The smartphone will go on sale in the European region from the month of February.
