CES 2014: OLPC unveils two new Android tablets
One Laptop per Child (OLPC), a project supported by One Laptop per Child Association (OLPCA) and OLPC Foundation (OLPCF), has unveiled two Android based tablets for kids at CES 2014.
Who says gadgets are not meant for kids! At CES 2014, saw two OLPC devices unveiled exclusively focussed on kids, while Vivitar still being the hardware partner, the tablet features better specs as compared to its previous iterations.
OLPC is also offering this device in two variants, the 7-inch XO-2 and the 10.1 inch XO-10. The specs on both the devices are identical with a quad-core processor under its hood, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of storage, Bluetooth and GPS. It is claimed that the 7-inch version can offer upto 7 hours of battery life while its 10 inch sibling is expected to last for an impressive 12. Both tablets run on Android KitKat, a tweaked version even comes pre-loaded with 100 English and Spanish apps.
The price of the two models have been kept at $149 and $199 respectively. It also comes bundled with a few accessories including a microscope, telescope along with a wireless keyboard.
