A China Telecom Official has confirmed some of the specifications of the next generation of the iPhones. According to the official, Apple will bump up the RAM to 2GB in the iPhone 6s, which is double of what is offered in the 6 and the 6 Plus. The Cupertino-based company will also upgrade the 8MP camera unit to a 12MP one. He also said that the new devices will be powered by an A9 chipset.
Aside from these, the official also confirmed that the new phones will come with Force Touch Technology. However, there is a possibility that Apple will be beaten by Huawei in introducing the new technology to smartphones. Force Touch Technology lets the device differentiate between a light tap on the screen and heavier touch. Force Touch technology is currently being used in the Apple Watch and the latest MacBook Pro. There were also speculations that the new iPhones will be available in rose gold, or pink color. However, another employee of China Telecom has said that there will be no pink version of the iPhone.
There are still plenty of other rumors about the new iPhones that haven’t been confirmed by the official, especially the ones regarding the launch of an iPhone 6c. As for the launch date, the official said that the new phones will be launched between September 18 and 25 in China. While the date is very vague, it somewhat fit alongside rumors that the Apple will launch the phones on September 9, or some time around that date.
The new iPhones will be successors to the Apple iPhone 6 and the Apple iPhone 6 Plus, and the design of the phones will most probably be quite similar to their predecessors.
