Celkon Mobiles has introduced its first Android 4.4 KitKat-based smartphone, Campus A35K. Priced at Rs. 2,999, the new Celkon smartphone is being touted as the cheapest KitKat-based smartphone in the country. The Celkon Campus A35K is available via e-commerce website Snapdeal.
The Celkon Campus A35K is a dual-SIM smartphone, featuring Android 4.4.2 (Kitkat) and powered by a 1 GHz processor along with 256MB of RAM. The smartphone has a 3.5-inch display with 320 x 480 pixels resolution.
The Celkon Campus A35K has a 3.2MP rear camnera with LED flash and a VGA front-facing camera. It has 512MB internal memory, expandable up to 32GB via microSD. Connectivity options include GPRS, EDGE, 3G, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth, microUSB and GPS. It is powered by a 1,400 mAh battery. Check out the full specifications of the smartphone here.

Celkon's new smartphone will be competing against a range of entry-level Android smartphones. It may be recalled Google's Android KitKat OS has been optimised for the low-end smartphones as well. We can expect more low-cost and ultra low-cost smartphones, running Android KitKat.
That said, Mozilla in coordination with two Indian smartphone brands – Intex and Spice – is targeting entry-level smartphone segment in India with its ultra low-cost Firefox-based smartphones. Intex has confirmed launching a new smartphone – Cloud FX, which will be priced below Rs. 2,000.
