Celkon C76 feature phone with multi language support launched for Rs. 1,899

Celkon hopes the new multi-lingual phone will help reach out to the people in rural, semi-urban and interior parts of India.

Celkon Mobiles has introduced a new feature phone with support for eight Indian languages including Hindi, Gujarati, Punjabi, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu and Kannada. The new Celkon phone, C76, is priced at Rs. 1,899.

Speaking of specifications, the new Celkon C76 sports a 2.8-inch display, dual-SIM support, 1.3MP camera, expandable storage up to 16GB, Bluetooth, audio-video Player and WAP/GPRS. The phone is powered by a 1400mAh battery. The C76 is available in two colours – chocolate and silver, and black and silver.

“Introducing a multi-lingual phone will reach out to the majority people spread across the regional boundaries. This will enable users to send text messages in their respective mother tongue and perform other linguistic activity,” says Y Guru, Chairman and Managing director, Celkon Mobiles.

Even as popularity of smartphones is growing in the country, feature phones continue to have majority share in the mobile phone market. Despite a slide, feature phones currently have about 81% of the total market in third quarter of 2013, says the latest IDC report.

Recently, Maxx introduced a new feature phone called the MX100 Leader with 4400mAh battery.
