Cat S60, with thermal camera, announced at MWC 2016

Cat Phones has announced its new flagship phone, the S60, at MWC 2016. The Cat S60 is is the world’s first smartphone to come with an integrated thermal camera and the company also claims that it’s the world’s most waterproof phone. The device comes with a thermal camera from FLIR, which can detect heat and measure surface temperature and can also work through smoke. The phone can be used to detect heat loss around windows and doors, overheating electrical appliances, and for seeing in the dark. As such, Cat has aimed the device at building professionals, utility workers, emergency service personnel, etc.

Further, the Cat S60 is also waterproof, lasting in up to a depth of 5 meters for an hour and can be used as an underwater camera. In addition, it can withstand drops on concrete from a height of up to 1.8 meters and is dustproof as well. Other specifications of the phone include a 4.7-inch HD display with Gorilla Glass 4. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 processor, with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of onboard storage. Other than the thermal camera, the phone also comes with a 13MP primary camera, with dual flash, and a 5MP front camera. The device is equipped with a 3800mAh battery and runs Android Marshmallow. The Cat S60 is priced at $599, which translates to about Rs. 41,000.
