Rooting a Mi phone will not void its warranty: Xiaomi

Like the OnePlus One and Yu Yureka, rooting a Xiaomi smartphone also doesn't void the warranty of the device, as revealed by Xiaomi India.

So here’s something you probably didn’t know. The warranty on Xiaomi smartphones is not voided if you root them. The information was given to us by Jai Mani, Product Manager for Xiaomi in India. True blue Mi fans would perhaps already be aware of this, but for others, it’s somewhat of a neat feature. In fact, considering the fact that it is one of the biggest selling points of the OnePlus One and Micromax Yu Yureka, this is quite an addition to the selling points for Xiaomi’s devices.

The company currently sells its Redmi 1S and Redmi Note 4G smartphone in India, while it is expected to bring the Xiaomi Mi4 soon. Xiaomi is also scheduled to launch a new flagship product in the Chinese market tomorrow. What the product is, is not known yet, although rumours are that the company will launch the Xiaomi Mi5 smartphone.

Xiaomi also announced recently that users using the Airtel 4G network on the Redmi Note 4G will be given double the data that they have opted for. That means, if you’re using a 300 MB 4G plan, you will be given a data limit of 600 MB instead.
