BlackBerry OS 10.1 rumored to bring new camera features, improved UI & keyboard
The update is supposed to be released towards the end of this month, and is surely a major one for the latest BlackBerry platform.
With the global rollout of the BlackBerry Z10 pretty much done now that it is available in the U.S., the company is apparently focussing on the first major update for the BB10 platform. Various sources say that the update, OS 10.1, will be released towards the end of this month.
Rumor mills suggest that the OS 10.1 update will bring in a host of features, with a major focus on the camera, which will get improved performance and the High Dynamic Range (HDR) mode as well. The keyboard will also get some tweaks, with shortcuts, enhanced word predictions and the Type n Go feature (specifically on the upcoming Q10). At the moment, you cannot, but OS 10.1 will enable BBM messages to be sent directly via the Hub, just like a Facebook post or a Twitter update currently.
It is also being suggested that the update will enable an active connection with the PC, and when hooked up, will allow access to the phone’s files via the PC.
All these updates are rather critical for a platform that has been fairly neat out of the box, but needs a bit of polishing to make it more usable. These features definitely add that. However, at the moment, these are rumors or indications of what to expect, based mostly on hearsay and approximations based on the leaked screenshots of the OS 10.1 update. We usually don’t give too much importance to them, but what is mentioned here isn’t outlandish in any way, and we can pretty much expect most of these features with the update.
