CEO John Chen says upcoming BlackBerry phones to mostly feature keyboards as handset maker is shifting focus to business customers.

BlackBerry’s new CEO John Chen says that upcoming BlackBerry phones will ‘predominantly’ have physical keyboards.

It seems John Chen, known for turning around fortunes of struggling companies, has set new goals for BlackBerry. Last week after parting ways with creative director Alicia Keys, the new BlackBerry CEO clearly indicated that the struggling Canadian handset maker is going back to its roots as a part of a strategic shift to refocus on business customers.

Ron Louks, former exec at Sony Ericsson and HTC, will run the device business. In an interview with Bloomberg Chen said, “Ron’s a very creative guy. I think he’s more in touch with not only the technology and design to make a phone great but how people like the phone.”

New goals, new management !! Can Chen turn things around for BlackBerry?

Finally, Chen announced a five month deal with Foxconn Technology to help produce phones for developing and emerging markets.

Also known as ‘the fixer’, only time will tell if John Chen can take BlackBerry out of the doldrums.
