Intel, Samsung and Linux Foundation-developed Tizen is one of the expected mobile OS arrivals this year, and its SDK is due in the first quarter. Tizen, inheriting Bada and MeeGo’s interface and code, will run mostly HTML5 apps.
Now, what seem like leaked screenshots of the SDK running on an emulator have appeared on the web, showing many visual similarities to Bada – perhaps showing who’s really spearheading the effort? MeeGo’s clean three homescreen, Swype-based UI is not in evidence however.
One of the screenshots (the last below) shows the SDK displaying the browser’s user agent, which reads Samsung I9500. Interestingly enough, all the current I9xxx devices are top-of-the-line Android devices in the the Samsung lineup. The I9500 specifically, is the original Galaxy S. Possibly, the company is testing the operating system on its first Android flagship.
