Asus Zenfone Selfie likely to feature 13MP front, rear cameras

Asus looks to be targeting selfie-enthusiasts with its new Zenfone Selfie phone, which is likely to feature 13MP front camera with dual-LED flash.

Asus is reportedly going to launch a new smartphone aimed at selfie-enthusiasts. According to reports, the smartphone will be a new variant of the Zenfone 2 and will be launched as the Zenfone Selfie. Aus' new smartphone is likely to officially debut at the forthcoming Computex event.

Asus hasn't officially confirmed the device as yet. But, rumours suggest the phone will come with a 13MP front-facing camera with dual-LED flash and 13MP rear camera. The 13MP rear and front camera combination reminds us of the HTC Desire Eye and Micromax's Canvas Selfie. Other expected features of the Zenfone Selfie include 5.5-inch display and an Intel processor. More details about the phone are not known as yet. As the Computex nears, we're more likely to see more rumours and leaks about the new Zenfone phone. Along with the Selfie phone, Asus is being rumoured to launch a couple of ZenPad tablets at the Computex this year. More details about these devices are not available right now.

Asus had a successful run with its Zenfone phones. Riding high on the success, the company launched a slew of variants of the Zenfone 2, which highest end one featuring 4GB of RAM. Asus currently sells Zenfone 2 variants for price between Rs. 13000 and Rs. 20000. The selfie-phone will bring more variety to Asus' line up and appeal to those not very conscious about specifications. As far as selfie phones go, most of the companies are trying to woo the selfie enthusiasts with improved front cameras. Sony had a successful run with Xperia C3, and this year it launched Xperia C4 with better features. Looking at the trend, selfie-phones is likely to emerge as a strong smartphone sub-segment, with manufacturers launching high res front cameras or even rotating cameras at competitive prices.
