Images of an upcoming budget smartphone, the Asus Zenfone Go, have been leaked. The leaked images, posted on sogi.com.tw, which had earlier correctly predicted the existence of the Asus Zenfone Selfie, shows a budget device that could replace the Asus Zenfone 4. Not much is known about the Zenfone Go right now, except that the device will have a 5 inch 720p display along with 2GB of RAM and a MediaTek MT6582 quad-core SoC. The phone is also expected to have 8GB of internal storage, along with an 8MP rear camera and a 2MP front camera. The Zenfone Go will support 3G connectivity and is expected to be unveiled this month.
Apart from the fact that the Zenfone Go is a refreshing departure from Asus’ love for the ‘Zenfone 2’ name, the phone seems like a worthy upgrade to the earlier Zenfone 4, which was Asus’ entry level offering in the country. Of course, the lack of 4G connectivity tells us that the device should be priced lower than the likes of the Moto E (4G), Xiaomi Redmi 2 and Lenovo A6000 Plus. The official pricing is yet to be known though.
The Taiwanese smartphone maker has made its mark on the smartphone market over the past year. The Asus Zenfone 2 is the first smartphone to sport 4GB of RAM and it has received a lot of consumer interest in India. The company in fact has flooded the Rs. 10-20k segment with variants of its Zenfone 2 smartphone. Asus is also expected to launch the recently announced Zenfone Selfie smartphone in India soon.
