Asus ZenFone AR with 8GB RAM, Google Tango support launched at Rs 49,999
Asus ZenFone AR supports both Google Tango AR and Daydream VR platforms and is exclusively available from Flipkart. The handset is priced at Rs 49,999 and Flipkart is offering Rs 2,500 discount on Daydream VR headset.
Asus ZenFone AR is now available in India exclusively on Flipkart at Rs 49,999. The ZenFone AR is the world's first smartphone to support both Google's Tango AR and Daydream VR platforms. The handset is currently available for purchase exclusively on Flipkart and as part of the launch offer, ZenFone AR buyers get a discount of Rs 2,500 on Google's Daydream View headset.
Asus has also partnered with Reliance Jio to offer up to 100GB additional data to ZenFone AR users. To recall, the ZenFone AR was first showcased at CES 2017 and went on sale after Computex in May. The handset fixes the sluggish response observed with Lenovo Phab 2 Pro with improved hardware.
Asus ZenFone AR sports a 5.7-inch Quad HD display and is powered by Snapdragon 821 optimised for Tango applications. It offers 8GB RAM and 128GB storage and supports expandable storage up to 2TB via microSD card slot. Asus is also bundling its ZenEar S headphones to improve the overall audio experience.
The USP of ZenFone AR, however, is the new TriCam system designed in collaboration with Google for augmented reality applications. The handset sports a standard 23MP optically stabilised rear camera with f/2.0 aperture and additional depth and motion sensors. The depth and motion sensors is used to understand real environment and allows users to augment virtual objects into real world. At the launch, Asus demonstrated such a feature with Renewate app that lets users place virtual furniture in real world. For those interested in selfies, the smartphone offers an 8MP front camera.
Asus ZenFone AR also supports Google's Daydream VR platform and is compatible with Daydream View headset. The smartphone runs Android 7.0 Nougat layered with ZenUI 3.0 and offers connectivity options like WiFi, Bluetooth and GPS. The handset is backed by a 3300mAh battery and aimed at those looking at a smartphone offering unique AR experience.
