Asus will unveil its flagship Zenfone 5Z smartphone at a launch event today at 12:30 PM. As the handset was unveiled at the Mobile World Congress 2018 (MWC), we already know what hardware it’s equipped with. The only unknown factor is the device’s pricing, but a recent Flipkart listing of the phone has revealed that it could be priced starting at Rs 29,999. Today’s launch event will be live streamed on Flipkart and YouTube, but you can watch it right here via the embedded video.
The Asus Zenfone 5Z comes in three models and as per a previous leak, it is expected to be priced at Rs 29,999 for the base model with 6GB RAM and 64GB of internal storage. The handset’s 8GB RAM variant with 128GB and 256GB storage could be priced at Rs 32,999 and Rs 36,999 respectively. There is also a possibility that the company might lower the Zenfone 5Z’s prices as an introductory offer, same as Xiaomi did with the Redmi 5A.
Coming to the specifications, the Asus Zenfone 5Z features a ‘notched’ 6.2-inch full-HD+ LCD display with a 19:9 aspect ratio. As expected from a flagship, it runs on the latest Snapdragon’s 845 platform. It is equipped with a dual rear camera with a f/1.8 12MP sensor and a f/2.2 8MP lens. On the front is an 8MP sensor with f/2.0 aperture lens and 84-degree field of view.
The device is backed by a 3300mAh battery and runs on Android 8.0 Oreo. The company says that the Zenfone 5Z makes extensive use of AI-based features like AI Charging, Scene Detection while capturing photos, and more. It comes with the Face Unlock feature, along with a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor.
