Asus Zenfone 5 16GB version now available at Rs 9,999
After having created a lot of buzz at the CES 2015 with the latest Zenfone 2, Asus' popular Zenfone 5 16GB version has seen a price cut and entered the sub-10k price segment.
Asus has slashed the price of its Zenfone 5 16GB version to Rs. 9,999 in India. The smartphone was previously available for Rs. 12,499.
“Post we entered the Indian market in July, 2014; we have received prolificresponse for our four different variants under Zenfone Series. Zenfones have reached audience in more than 300 cities with the extensive reach of Flipkart. The phones have been successful in terms of the feedback received from masses and even in terms of the sales that we have observed. In view of this response, we have introduced this special price to go a step ahead to serve our existing and prospective customers,” saidPeter Chang, Regional Head – South Asia & Country Manager – System Business Group – ASUS India.
“Aesthetically crafted Zenfones have been successful to touch the heart of Indian tech lovers and we are affirmative about the future as well.We are aiming to achieve 5% market share in the country by next year,” he added.
Recalling the specifications, the Zenfone 5 features has a 5-inch 720 pixel IPS display along with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean operating system. It is powered by a 1.6 GHz dual-core Intel Atom Z2560 processor with Hyperthreading technology. It also has 2 GB of RAM and supports external storage capacity of up to 64 GB. The device has an 8 MP rear camera and a 2 MP front camera. It runs on a 2,110 mAh battery.

One of the most anticipated smartphones from Asus is the Zenfone 2, which was just unveiled at the CES 2015. The Zenfone 2 5.5-inch Full HD IPS display with 403ppi pixel density, 2.3 GHz 64-bit Intel Atom processor Z3580 and 4GB of RAM. The 2GB RAM version has been priced at $200.
