Asus ROG Phone 3 is now confirmed to launch with Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 Plus chipset at launch on July 22. Qualcomm officially announced the Snapdragon 865 Plus chipset that aims to improve the gaming perfromance and will power upcoming gaming smartphones like the ROG Phone 3 and Lenovo Legion 5G.
Previously, the official handle of Asus Global posted a picture which displays the chip as “865+” with the caption stating that the ROG Phone 3 will be powered by the “latest” Snapdragon 865 chipset. Earlier rumours have hinted that the upcoming gaming phone will be powered by an overclocked version of the Snapdragon 865 chip but this latest development indicates that it is the Snapdragon 865 Plus chip.
The Asus ROG Phone 3 is perhaps the first phone to launch with this upgraded Snapdragon 865 Plus processor. While the tweet by Asus was deleted, several eagle-eyed users took a screenshot of the tweet and reposted it.
The ROG Phone 3 is a much-anticipated gaming smartphone by Asus and has been the centre of many leaks which reveal some key specifications of the phone. Asus has scheduled the global launch event for the ROG Phone 3 on July 22 at 8 PM IST.
Asus ROG Phone III is expected to feature a 6.59-inch Full HD+ (2340 x 1080 pixels) resolution display that uses an AMOLED panel. The screen has a 144Hz high refresh-rate and is HDR10+ certified.
It is rumoured to be powered by an overclocked Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 chipset with an octa-core CPU running at 3.09GHz and Adreno 650 graphics. The phone will reportedly be offered with 12GB/16GB RAM and 256GB/512GB/1TB storage variants.
The triple rear camera setup could have a 64MP primary camera while on the front, we could see a 13MP selfie camera.
As for the battery, the ROG Phone III is expected to come with a 6,000mAh battery with support for 30W fast charging. There’s currently no word on when the ROG Phone 3 will make it to the Indian market.
