Apple’s iPhone X production below 10,000 units per day, expect severe shortage: Apple analyst
The report says that the iPhone X will be in short supply for a while after its launch. It also states that the Gold colour variant of the iPhone X will be even rarer to procure and could be up for sale at a later date than the expected Black and Silver models.
Apple is all set for its annual event today and the new flagship iPhone X is on everyone’s mind. According to MacRumors, Ming-Chi Kuo from KGI securities has released a report stating that Apple’s current iPhone X production is just under 10,000 units per day. Based on the report, Kuo anticipates that the iPhone X will face severe supply constraints after its launch later this month.
Kuo further anticipates that even after the iPhone X launches, its Gold colour variant will be available in very limited supply due to some production problems. The analyst said that the Gold colour variant of the iPhone X can go on sale much later than the Black and Silver colours.
The website posted an excerpt from Kuo’s research note which states, “Due to component supply constraints, we estimate current production of the OLED iPhone at less than 10k units per day, which means the model will remain in severely short supply for a while. Furthermore, we estimate that the gold version of the OLED iPhone will encounter some production problems and will initially be available only in extremely low volume. There is even a chance that the gold version will go on sale at a later date than the other versions. However, we believe these shipment delays will have a limited impact on the shares of Apple and its supply chain members.”
Apple is hosting its iPhone launch event at the Steve Jobs Theater nestled inside its spaceship campus in Cupertino, California. The company is expected to debut three new iPhones at the event. Apart from the iPhone X, the Cupertino based company is expected to launch the iPhone iPhone 8 and 8 Plus. According to previous reports, Apple is redesigning the iPhone X and may remove the iconic home button and Touch ID with it. Apple is also expected to launch an upgraded Apple TV with 4K capabilities, Apple Watch Series 3 and the final build of iOS 11.
