Apple’s first foldable iPhone may debut in September 2026: What we know
Apple’s first foldable iPhone is expected to launch in September 2026, alongside the iPhone 18 series.
The foldable iPhone will likely use Samsung OLED displays and feature a book-style design.
Apple aims to produce 15–20 million foldable iPhones annually.
Apple has reportedly been working on its first foldable iPhone for quite some time. The design, innovation, and other aspects have already been highlighted, and it is expected to pose a significant challenge to companies such as Samsung and Motorola. In the most recent update, the launch date of the foldable iPhone was tipped again.
According to a source, Apple could release its first foldable phone in September 2026, alongside the iPhone 18 series. The tipster also stated that the company will use advanced displays provided by Samsung Display.
The Korean news source cited by the tipster claims that Apple will begin manufacturing its foldable iPhone in May of next year. In terms of design, the iPhone Fold (for the time being) is anticipated to resemble the Galaxy Z Fold series in that it is a book-style foldable phone. It might come with large internal screens that can be unfolded for a tablet-like experience and a smaller external display for quick tasks.

According to the report, Apple is expected to produce 15–20 million units annually. The iPhone Fold is anticipated to feature Samsung’s OLED panels, just like the regular iPhone lineup. In order to outperform the current foldable technology, Apple is also anticipated to introduce some innovative features and tech.
It is important to note that the tech giant has not confirmed that foldable iPhones are in the works. According to earlier leaks, Apple is developing two foldable devices and plans to release them in the upcoming years.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold series, Vivo X Fold series, OnePlus Open, Google Pixel Pro Fold series, and Huawei will all compete with the iPhone Fold if it is released in international markets. Since the foldable market has not expanded in recent years, the reports also indicate that Apple’s entry into the market will eventually aid in the growth of the dying market.
