Apple working on two large screen iPhone models: Reports

Rumours on the Internet suggest that Apple is working on a 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch smartphone with curved displays

The iPhone 5S and 5C have barely made it in consumer’s hands all over the world and information about the next iPhone is already circulating the Internet. If these rumours are to be believed, then Apple is working on not one but two smartphones that will launch in the second half of 2014.

The devices will sport 4.7-inch and a 5.5-inch display respectively. Seeing that 4.7-inch was last year’s standard for smartphones, it is likely that the next iPhone could sport this size. Also, the iPhone 6 will have a design change (the 4 and 4S we the same design, the 5 and 5S were the same, so the iPhone 6 will see a design change), which leads us to believe that it will have a larger display giving you access to one more line of apps.

Coming to the 5.5-inch device, this is a category currently dominated by Samsung’s Note series devices, and we do have some great devices such as the Xperia Z Ultra and the LG Optimus G Pro trying to steal some of Samsung’s thunder.

Both the Apple devices will also have a display that curves at the bottom. We have seen Samsung and LG showcase their variant of curved glass displays and we are still waiting for those devices to launch in India. The display on the upcoming iPhones is expected to be pressure sensitive, i.e., it will recognise how softly or hardly you are pressing the display.

It is unlikely that Apple will launch a 5.5-inch device, but it is plausible that the company will launch two different smartphones next year. With the launch of the iPhone 5S, Apple also launched the iPhone 5C. Sure it is the same as the iPhone 5 but in a more colourful body.

At the end of the day, these are all rumours and it’s too early to predict what Apple has planned for the future of its smartphone.
