Apple is scheduled to unveil the new iPhone 7 later today and we may have gotten a few hints on what other things we can expect from the event. Trademark attorney, Brian Conroy, claims to have published new trademarks by Apple, which refer to an “AirPods case” and an “Iris Engine.” It is speculated that the AirPods case might be a reference to new wireless cord-free earphones (like the Samsung Gear IconX) that the company is tipped to be working on. Like the Gear IconX, the case might be used to charge the earphones. Samsung’s case also feature an internal battery that is used to charge the IconX while on the move.
The Iris Engine could allude to iris recognition capabilities in the upcoming iPhone or even other Apple products. Another trademark spotted was “Apple Iris Image Engine,” which suggests that the Iris Engine might have something to do with the dual-rear cameras that the iPhone 7 Plus is tipped to come with. Other trademarks that Conroy linked to Apple were “Apple Smart Button” and “Apple Touch Bar” which might be connected to the OLED touch panel that the next MacBook Pro is expected to feature.
