2017 is a key year for the iPhone, given that it will mark the 10th anniversary for the device. A fresh report from Japanese outlet Macotakara claims that Apple may be working on a 5-inch iPhone for 2017. Citing an unnamed Taiwanese supplier, the report states that the 5-inch iPhone will have the same specs as the “iPhone 7s” and “iPhone 7s Plus.” The smartphone is expected to sport a dual-camera setup, similar to the iPhone 7 Plus, but the cameras will be vertically aligned, rather than horizontally.
This isn’t the first time a 5-inch iPhone model has been rumoured. Back in October, Nikkei had reported that Apple may add a 5-inch device to its lineup. The phone is rumoured to be launched around fall 2017. Alongside reports of a 5-inch iPhone, the internet has also been buzzing with rumours surrounding Apple's 10th Anniversary edition of the iPhone. The iPhone 8 is expected to sport a flexible OLED panel and is tipped to come with an LG-made 3D camera. Renowned Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo also said that the iPhone 8 will get support for wireless charging using an inductive pad similar to the one available for the Apple Watch.
