HIGHLIGHTS

According to online leaks, the iPhone 17 Pro models can have a “large horizontal matrix” camera module.

Apple is reportedly planning to launch its first foldable device in 2026.

Apple just unveiled the iPhone 16e a couple of days back, and the year has just started for the Cupertino-based tech giant. If reports are to be believed, the company is gearing up for a significant revamp in 2025. Reports suggest that we might get to see a changed design language for the iPhone 17 series as well as the company’s first-ever foldable device. While Apple has faced criticism for incremental updates in recent years, the upcoming lineup could bring major design and hardware advancements.
iPhone 17 Series

Even though the iPhone 17 series is not expected until September, leaks and rumours are already circulating online. According to online leaks, the iPhone 17 Pro models can have a “large horizontal matrix” camera module. This would mark a major departure from the traditional vertical or triangular setups. A known tipster, Majinbu took to X to tip the design of the iPhone 17 series. While there is only one model that is identical to the current iPhone 16, the other three models have a redesigned back panel. The Pro models feature a bar-shaped camera module housing the LED flash, microphone, and LiDAR sensor in a new arrangement.

In addition to this, this year Apple can also introduce the much-speculated iPhone 17 Air. It is expected to be an ultra-thin model and move ahead with Apple’s Air lineup. It is expected to feature a single rear camera.

Lastly, reports also indicate that Apple is working on AI-powered enhancements and next-generation chipsets to make the iPhone 17 series a more compelling upgrade.

Apple’s first foldable device

Another highlight for Apple this year is going to be its foldable. If reports are to be believed, Apple is planning to launch its first foldable device in 2026, as per Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. The company has yet to reveal whether this will be a foldable iPhone or iPad, but industry insiders suggest a notebook-style “Fold” rather than a clamshell “Flip” model.

Along with this, rumours also suggest that Apple might be working on a foldable MacBook as well. But Gurman suggests it may take several more years to materialise. While leaks continue to surface, Apple’s final reveal is expected around September 2025 for the iPhone 17 series and 2026 for the foldable device.
