Apple iPhone SE to sell in India at Rs. 39000 from April 8
Dead on arrival?
The iPhone SE smartphone will be launched in India at a starting MRP of Rs. 39,000 (for the 16GB model). While Apple hasn't confirmed the launch date in India, Redington, Apple's premiere distributor in India, has confirmed that it'll start selling the iPhone SE from April 8 onwards. According to Apple, the new device will be available in India and many other countries in early April. The iPhone SE was announced yesterday, and will be available in the US and some other countries from March 24 onwards, with deliveries from March 31.
The originally reported price of the iPhonse SE was Rs. 30,000, which prompted many to exclaim at the affordability factor. However, at Rs. 39,000, the iPhone SE seems more like an overpriced device, something that Apple has often been accused of with its iPhones.
It is worth noting that the iPhone SE has the same camera as the iPhone 6S, which means it wouldn’t match up to competitors like the Nexus 6P and Samsung Galaxy S6, in terms of image quality. Further, the fact that this phone has a smaller battery is another concern. Apple’s quoted battery life is at 13 hours, which is less than what most flagships in the market today would offer.
Of course, the biggest concern remains in the fact that the iPhone SE will have only 16GB of storage at Rs. 39,000. Apple hasn't confirmed the pricing for its 64GB variant yet. In case ypu're interested, the 16GB iPhone 6S currently sells for Rs. 41,500 on Flipkart.
