Apple may include an iris scanner in the tenth anniversary edition of the iPhone. According to a report by Digitimes, the upcoming phone will include the feature alongside an OLED display and wireless charging. A few days ago, noted analyst, Ming Chi-Kuo said that the company will unveiled three new iPhones this year and that all three would feature wireless charging.
However, the new iPhone may not be the only new smartphone to offer iris scanning technology. Samsung is also expected to include an iris scanner in the Galaxy S8. The company had earlier offered the feature in the ill-fated Galaxy Note 7.
For the tenth anniversary edition of the iPhone (dubbed the iPhone X), Apple is tipped to offer an edge-to-edge display with no home button. The button is expected to be integrated as a 3D Touch panel within the display itself. The volume button is are also said to be replaced with touch-enabled recesses on the side of the phone’s chassis. However, the special edition may not be cheap, as reports suggest that the new smartphone may be priced at over $1,000. Considering that the most expensive version of the iPhone currently in India is the 256GB variant of the iPhone 7 Plus (Rs. 92,000), it is possible that the new iPhone may be priced at over a lakh in the country.
