HIGHLIGHTS

Apple's 2017 iPhone lineup is expected to be available only in black, silver and copper gold colour options. The copper gold variant might be called blush gold at the time of launch.

Apple is expected to announce three new iPhones in September. The Cupertino-based company's 2017 lineup is expected to include a redesigned iPhone with an OLED display and iterative updates in the form of iPhone 7s and iPhone 7s Plus. KGI Securities' analyst Ming-Chi Kuo recently confirmed that the 2017 iPhone line-up will only be available in black, copper gold and silver colour variants.

According to 9to5Mac, a new Weibo post from a Foxconn Insider claims that the copper gold colour variant will be called "Blush Gold." The report adds that the iPhone 8 blush gold colour variant will only be offered in 64GB and 128GB storage options. Apple currently limits the Jet black and (Product) RED iPhone 7 models to 128GB and 256GB storage capacities and the new models are also expected to be available in higher capacities only.

The rumour of the blush gold iPhone 8 launching in 64GB and 128GB storage variants has also been highlighted by tipster Benjamin Geskin. Apple is said to be doing away with the rose gold iPhone to accommodate this new hue of gold. The purported model has also been shown in several leaked videos in the form of a dummy handset. The blush gold model is expected to sport a white front panel as opposed to black on other models.

Kuo recently claimed that the iPhone 8 with OLED display is not delayed and will be unveiled alongside the iPhone 7s and iPhone 7s Plus. He believes the supply will be limited to 2-4 million units at the time of launch and mass production will only begin mid-September.

The iPhone 8 is expected to feature a 5.8-inch AMOLED display with a full-screen design and will be powered by Apple's A11 SoC. The handset is also expected to feature an improved vertically mounted dual camera system with support for augmented reality applications. It is also expected to support fast charging via a separate USB Type-C adapter while wireless charging will be standard.

The iPhone 8 could be priced around $1,200 (around Rs 77,000) and Kuo expects Apple to ship 45-50 million OLED models for the rest of the year. He sees shipments of 4.7-inch iPhone 7s to be around 35-38 million units, while that 5.5-inch iPhone 7s Plus could decline to 18-20 million units.
