Apple iPhone 7 may not have a headphone jack at all
According to a report by Japanese Apple blog Macotakara, Apple may completely do away with the 3.5mm headphone jack in the iPhone 7
Rumours about the Apple iPhone 7 have been circling since the launch of the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus. According to a recent report by Japanese blog Macotakara, Apple may completely ditch the 3.5mm audio jack from the iPhone 7, indicating that future iPhones may only connect to a headphone via Bluetooth or the lightning connector or even a USB Type C connector. This year, Apple ditched any extra ports on the MacBook aswell. The new MacBook features just two ports- the headphone jack and a USB Type C port. Other rumours also say that Apple may remove the Home Button from the iPhone 7. In a note about the seventh edition of the iPhone, Analyst Gene Munster of Piper Jaffray, a full-service investment bank and asset management firm, said that the iPhone 7 may see the Touch ID moved to the side of the device, as opposed to the front and that Apple's 3D touch feature may enable it to do so.
Earlier in September, Apple was also granted a patent for flexible electronic devices, suggesting that the iPhone 7 variants may see curved, edge-to-edge displays. The patent abstract states that a “flexible electronic device may include a flexible display, a flexible housing and one or more flexible internal components configured to allow the flexible electronic device to be deformed.”
Apple's future devices are always in the news given the popularity they enjoy in the tech community. Apple has not confirmed any information or rumours about the iPhone 7 as of now, but given the hype around the device, the company is expected to bring in its A game, especially since the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus did not create big waves, as was expected.
